PROBLEM/SITUATION DESCRIPTION:
Profes wants to create the company with high organisational culture, which will itself long-term operation on the market, create good reputation and realise the need of public utility business.The group of owners and employees decided on goal-oriented and structured actions aiming at reinforcing their crucial values among all their stakeholders.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/SOLUTION:
The consequence of such strategy was the need to define basic principles in main areas:
Way to Conduct Business
PROFES is strongly against the concept of business determined to achieve its goals even over dead bodies. It attempts to function according to the rules of responsibility and openness. It is demonstrated in consultations with employees through open communication, equal opportunities for development, proper working hours, cooperation with ethical suppliers, transparency of conducting business (the company does not run projects obtained through corruption) and social programs for employees etc. An important element of popularising principles and values was creating channels of communication with clients, suppliers, employees and cooperating institutions. The company builds organisational culture also through socially involved programs which attract the company owners, employees and clients (e.g. in the form of financial or material support). Activities in supporting programs and requiring a lot of organisation and preparations can take place also during work hours.
Social Involvement
- The company defined programs it runs for the benefits of the local community:
- support to the Association of St. Celestin in Mikoszowo which helps sick children,
- adopting two African children,
- actions to fight homelessness – cooperation with Habitat for Humanity,
- actions for students and pupils – substantial support to Recruitment Office, running the program of internships, participation in the Program Win an Internship.
Ecology
In order to lower paper use the production of which triggers the necessity to cut down great number of trees, PROFES adopted new rules binding everyone: employees pay attention to using both pages of a sheet of paper, used paper is collected for recycling.

CHALLENGES:
- Introducing the system of waste paper collection and economising on paper triggered some resistance among employees since it required new habits and standards. In order to convince the employees to the new order, the company sought additional solutions facilitating ecological behaviours: printers with the duplex option were purchased, and one person was made responsible for preparing partially used paper for reuse such as printing less important forms or internal memos etc.
WORTH REMEMBERING:
- In the CSR strategy, the undertaken actions have to aimed not only to the outsider stakeholders, but also and perhaps first of all to the internal ones, because only then can they bring the assumed results;
- For the effectiveness of the practices the company introduces it is indispensable to have the support of owners and managers;
- Running responsible business does not require big financial means, the most important is willingness and an idea for a project.
